It sure looks like one, don't it?
After a lot of waiting and hoping and praying and wanting, something seems to be happening, homewise.
Yesterday, we went to look at a flat higher up in Front Street, and well away from all the noise an clatter that surrounds us here. It has, as you can see, an enormous lounge, and also three nice bedrooms, a generous kitchen and a huge amount of storage space. It will mean all out stuff can come out of storage and we will once more be able to access all of our things whenever we need to.
If it all works out, our housing misery could be at an end for the time being. It's a prospect almost too delicious to dare to hope for. Because this is rented accommodation again, the move is a lot simpler and there is a lot less paperwork involved. As long as we carefully time our eventual move into a house that we own, we should be OK, as this property is rented on a 6 month lease, meaning we could be left with 6 months rent to pay if we move right at the start of a lease period. Timing is crucial.
So now we can contemplate another interim move, but to somewhere vastly more attractive than this tiny house. There isn't any room for the massage table, folks - that's the big disappointment. No way, no how. I've thought of everything I can, short of putting it in the lounge. So it may be wise to book yourself in while you still can. :)
1: Having a kitchen big enough to cook in, without banging into things all the time.
2: Having a lounge big enough to welcome guests into.
3: Having a quiet bedroom to rest peacefully in
4: Having more space to use for my work
5: Being free from my constant slight feeling of claustrophobia.
6: Having a toilet on the same level as the lounge and kitchen
7: Not having people walk past my lounge window all the time shouting obscenities.
8: Not having cigarette smoke seep in through every window and crack.
9: Liz having a decent sized room to work from.
10: Having a first floor veranda!
The kitchen is quite quirky, as is much of the place. The units are more like one might have found in a caravan in the 1960s-70s. The little cupboards are really funny to look at and use, but they are serviceable - in much the same way as the units in the present kitchen are not. Plenty of drawers as well, thank goodness. Throughout the house, there is evidence of unusual, but high quality woodwork. Loads of built-in units and drawers, unlike anything available in IKEA or MFI. Many have unusual triangular coves in them - I guess you have to see them to understand.
For all those who have been praying and relentlessly wishing for something to happen on the housing front, thank you. I hope it works out, as I think it will be fun to live in this quirky "caravan-flat". More news as we get it.
Wonderful, so pleased for you both....

Put the massage table in the kitchen?
Or in a bedroom and put a bed in the lounge?

You like the massage table, don't you Louise.

How cool. It looks rather like a de luxe cabin on a cruise liner - you can imagine sailing to exotic places as you sleep then waking up somewhere different everyday :-)
