Amidst my frenzied attempt to lose weight, I am rarely able to forget the pain that follows me around all the time.
Ever since I was infected with cellulitis first in the right leg, then the left I have been left with what can fairly be described as a fair amount of paint. Often it is much more than that, but I really don't want to moan here. I prefer to moan in private - more effective, I find.
So today was my appointment at the Wansbeck Pain Clinic. I was lucky to get an appointment so quickly, and I will admit to being somewhat excited by the prospect of some more substantial pain relief.
So how did it go?
It went as well as can be expected, I suppose. I admit to always feeling a bit down after leaving a hospital. Not quite sure why. I guess it brings everything into focus. Reminds me how precarious things have been in the past, and that I can't realistically expect a total solution at any point.
Nevertheless, there are various new treatments in the offing - including a shiny new machine to carefully electrocute myself with and a number of new and different drugs. Most entertaining, is a new cream made entirely from red hot chilli peppers.
Apparently, this burns as one applies it to the damaged area.
I have to apply it four times a day.
Not sure about this. I mean, who ever heard of a pain relief medicine that /hurts/ ?
Andyway, all this new stuff raises my hopes a little that I might experience less pain in the future, and this coupled with my continuing weight loss will hopefully help to make a lot brighter future all round.
Even so, mixed feelings today. Here's for the future.
