Despite obvious concerns, Jason successfully become 38 earlier today.
In a day full of contrasts and contradictions, Jason lived through his birthday and managed to appear happy for the 0.16% of it that I personally witnessed. Well done that man. Let's hope that this next year is a truly epic one in which many positive and smashing things happen. Let's hope that.
I stayed a while to gaze at his dizzying array of hi-tech presents and to be awed by his baritone ukulele. (And no, that wasn't a euphemism) Yes, I hear you - it IS like a little guitar without the bottom two strings - but it has a presence all of its own, and chords sound, in every way measurable, "better" on it.
