Sad News: AD-LIB Radio is Closing

Ape-Waving I'm sorry to have to announce that AD-LIB Radio will be closing very soon.

We've had a good run, and an awful lot of fun along the way, but my circumstances pretty much dictate that I will not be able to keep the station going in 2006.

With the end of my marriage and the selling of Griffin House, this is also part of the end of an era. The stream will be active playing re-runs of a changing selection of old shows till around March.

I'd like to sincerely thank all the people who helped to make the station such a success - notably Jo, TonY, Adam - but also nice people like Robin, Fiona, Jac, Peter, The_One, HeatherSarah, Tim  - the list goes on and on.

It's been a real blast, and I would not have missed it for the anything, but all good things come to an end, as the saying goes.

I'll do my last live Wednesday night show tomorrow, so please do try to be there to wave me good-bye.

Please do watch my personal blog for my Podcasts, as this will be a continuing way for me to express myself in audio.

Thanks again, folks - it's been a blast.  :)

Almost There !

As this will be my last show before christmas I'm predictably going to play a few Christmas songs. What is not predictable or even prepared is what the rest of the show will contain, so I'll be winging it.

I've got an idea of a few tracks I want to play but once im "in Flight" things can change rapidly.

So join us for the Joy Ride at 2200 gmt on Thursday

Tonight's Planned Frivolities

Sorry folks, I am due home tonight, but will not now make it in time to do the show.

All I can say is, do you best to deal with your sadness.

If you're very lucky, uncle TonY will play a few tunes...

"What's The Recipie Today Tony.."

We hope to produce a truly, "tasty" show for you with some of our usual ingredients, i.e. "Featured Artist", and "Live Set" .

Seasoned with some Amiee Mann, Chris Botti (Andy and I love to "Air" our Botti as often as the law allows), Steve Vai, & Keith Emerson.

There's also a "Theme" running through the whole show but that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

Join me at 2200 Thursday 15th December

A Thousand Appologies ........

Well it happened......... unfortuately last night I was not able to make it home in time to transmit my radio show ("Where Rock Meets Funk" as Andy has been suggesting it now be called .... much better that "Runk With Tony" or "The Tony Brown Frock Show").

So instead I shall transmit it tomorrow night (Sat 10/12/2005) at 2200 GMT

Once again sorry if you tuned in and were disappointed but join me on Saturday for some great music

Tonight, Tonight

I'll keep it simple tonight.

Two themes to the music:

Classy Jazz & Blues

In order to leave you in suspense, I'll not say in what order.

So is my voice back?  Well, nearly...

Voice concerns

I'm all cued up with tracks ready for the show tonight, but I am worried that my voice may not hold out.

I've had virtually no voice all week. Worse - it's been squeaky and all sorts.

So, here's hoping I can find something to speak with. :)

Loads of great music - plenty of laid-back stuff and a truly outstanding blues set.

I hope you enjoy it, or that you catch it on the loop-back if you missed it.

Have Fun

Show? Oh yes, we got a show.

The Andy Curtis Show - 10pm Wednesday

I'm quite excited about the show tonight.

Of course it's packed with good music - that goes without saying, but check out the details:

1) Half an hour of top quality Blues to start with - inc. Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Susan Tedeschi  - but there's a further twist.

2) A Phrase Maze - ALL with Aretha Franklin songs!

3) My four favourite Simpsons tracks. Good for a giggle.

4) Fiona's classy cuts - I'll leave you in suspense.

5) To finish up with, some of my favourite ever piano-based tracks.

Sound good to you?

I hope so.

Tune in - tell your friends.  Let's make the bandwidth creak.  :)

Schedules

We're doing pretty well with the new scheduling system, after a few teething problems.

So please do keep checking the front page of the web site for updated schedules, as they have changed most days so far.

There Jo's 16 finest to enjoy, of course.  13.00 and 21.30

There's a new afternoon show as of today at 1430 every day

- and all the other stuff as billed.

It's great to have such good control of what's on when, and it makes for much more varied entertainment for you to listen to on the loop-back.

Happy listening.

Mea Culpa !!!

They say that "Confession Is Good For The Soul"

In that case its time to come clean .......

I have duped you these past few weeks as "Almost A Rock Show" has been a recorded broadcast.... tonight is my first "Live" show.

It wasnt done with the intention of deceiving you but rather a way to "Ease" me into this DJ'ing m'larky as I'd never done it before.

Big Changes

We've been making a few changes in the way things are set up on the station today. The loop-back is now hosted by Stream Solutions.

Here's a quick run-down on the changes this makes:

1) I am no longer broadcasting from Griffin House 24/7. I only broadcast from here when a live show is on.

2) Tony is now broadcasting live from his own studio for his Thursday night show.

3) When I'm moving house or away etc. because the stream is hosted remotely, everything will work as normal.

4) When we switch to live shows and after them, there will be a few seconds of dead air, this is quite normal.

5) Either Tony or myself can now edit the loop-back and make any necessary changes.

So, hey - isn't that sweet?

Andy.

Massive Apologies - No Show Tonight

Sorry folks, but I can see no way to do the show tonight.

I'm away in Huddersfield and even if back in time will have nothing prepared and be completely knackered.

Be there on Thursday for Tony's show, though. I'll be away, but I hope to make it play at roughly the right time.

Sorry, folks, my life is mad right now. It'll be better next week, I promise.

Andy.
